The booklet is printed one-sided on 60# paper with the print enlarged for easier reading. A vinyl sheet has been added to protect the front cover. Dyer County lies east of the Mississippi River on the western border of Tennessee. The first part of this booklet concerns the land surface, soil and agriculture; waterways; early settlers and settlements; early public officials; various county "firsts"; the formation of the county; transportation by river and rail; Bridges; statistics; public buildings; records claimed by arson; county representation in the Civil War; a list of early merchants in Dyersburg; Organizations and Newspapers; Small communities, including Fowlkes Station, Finley and Ro-Ellen; Schools and churches.
